Location Specifics The American Lifeguard Association has over 10,000 active lifeguard members nationwide. With our nationally recognized certification program, you can start training anywhere and complete it at any time. After enrolling, you can complete your certification program in as little as a few days or a weekend, or you can feel free to go at your own pace. It is important that you read the following instructions on how to enroll and complete the training.

Our blended program is offered year round, so please read below more information on how you can get trained as a Lifeguard any time of the year! Register today with our blended program, review the materials on your own time at home and see us for only one Saturday. We offer the review session every Saturday in the spring and summer and during the fall and winter, we offer it on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

STEPS TO BECOME A LIFEGUARD WITH AMERICAN LIFEGUARD

1. Pay by tapping on the "Continue" tab at the bottom of this page.

2. Upon registration and course payment, the payee will be emailed a link with the information as to how to complete the program. If you do not see this email right after you register and pay, we ask that you check your spam folder for sometimes it get filtered there by mistake. If you are paying for someone else, we ask that you forward that email with the link on how to complete the program to him or her, so they will have the information and can start their training right away!

3. Go online to the links we will give you to complete the necessary review and online exams. The online exams should only be started after the full online review of all the materials is completed. In regard to the online exam if you do not pass the exam the system will allow you to retake it over. Upon successfully completing the online part of the program the system will allow you to print out a certification that you passed and this will be needed to be brought with you to your water session.

4. We will also give you a link and password that will allow you to schedule your Saturday review session. Normally, you only need to attend one Saturday, but if you need more sessions, they may be scheduled at no additional cost. Most students can complete the full program with just one session for Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid.

If you have any medical conditions, it is recommended that before you start the training that you seek advice from your doctor regarding your capability to participate.

REVIEW SESSION LOCATION AND TIMES:
The American Lifeguard Association offers review sessions year round. Review sessions are conducted on 3rd Saturday of the month during the fall and winter, and stating each March, we will begin offering every Saturday until the end of the summer season. You will need to attend only one session. The times are from noon to 6pm, during the months of July through the end of April, and then starting in May, we move to 7am to 3pm due to the larger classes.

We offer both the Deep water and Shallow water Lifeguard sessions at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Fairfax, Virginia, which is located at 8900 Little River Turnpike Fairfax VA 22031. The center is just one mile west of the 495 Beltway on the right of Little River Turnpike. We ask that you not call the JCC, for they only rent the space to us, but instead if you have any questions, please email us at alalifeguard@aol.com.

HOW TO REGISTER AND START THE PROGRAM:
Just select continue at the bottom of this page and fill out the required student information and make payment through our secured payment system with any major credit card, or check, or your PayPal account. The information on how to complete the program along with all the necessary links is automatically sent to the address of the Payee, so if you are registering for someone else we ask that you forward this email to them. In addition, if you do not see the email within 15 minutes of payment, we ask that you check your spam folder, for sometimes it gets filtered there by mistake. If for any reason, you do not get it, please email us at alalifeguard@aol.com and we will resend it.

CAN I TAKE THE TRAINING NOW AND PAY LATER?
We offer the option of Bill Me Later®, where you can take the training right away, and get certified now, but have the flexibility to take up until six months with no interest or payments. You need only to select this option when you are registering and selecting payment arrangement. Otherwise, you may pay online by check, any major credit card or your PayPal account.
